Entry Level Estimator / Estimating Intern
PBC Construction Group is looking for a full-time Estimator / Estimating Intern.
PBC Construction Group is a commercial construction firm providing general contracting, development, and owner’s representative services throughout the Midwest. Our work includes retail, restaurant (QSR), light industrial, healthcare, institutional, and site development projects. We operate in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where team members are exposed to the full lifecycle of a project—from early pricing through final closeout.
Job Summary
The Entry-Level Estimator / Estimating Intern supports the preconstruction team by assisting with cost estimates, quantity takeoffs, subcontractor coordination, and bid preparation for commercial construction projects.
This role is designed for students or recent graduates interested in building a long-term career in construction management, preconstruction, or project management. You’ll work closely with experienced estimators and project managers and gain real-world exposure to how projects are priced, planned, and launched.
What You’ll Do
Estimating & Preconstruction Support
Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents
Assist with quantity takeoffs and scope reviews
Help solicit and organize subcontractor and supplier pricing
Support bid preparation and proposal assembly Track and compare pricing to ensure accuracy and completeness
Project & Team Coordination
Assist with pre-bid meetings and site walks
Help organize bid logs, scopes, and project documentation
Coordinate internally with project management and field teams
Support handoff from estimating to operations after project award
Learning & Development
Gain exposure to multiple project types and delivery methods
Learn how commercial projects are priced, scheduled, and staffed
Participate in internal meetings and project reviews
Build foundational knowledge for future roles in estimating or project management
What We’re Looking For
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in:
Construction Management
Civil Engineering
Architecture
Building Science
Or a related field
Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
Basic understanding of construction drawings and documents
Comfortable working with numbers and spreadsheets
Strong communication and organizational skills
Interest in commercial construction and project delivery
Experience with Bluebeam, Excel, or similar tools is a plus—but not required
